Often the best consultants come from the industries they serve. This is certainly true of Andrew Alltop, Financial Planning Analyst with Key Management Group. Andrew started his career as a financial advisor. He quickly discovered he had a passion for financial planning but wasn’t so fond of the “sales” aspect of being a financial advisor. So, when KMG advertised an opening for a Financial Planning Analyst, Andrew jumped at the opportunity. Says Andrew, “It was a perfect fit for my interests” and has been with the team since December of 2021
A jigsaw puzzle afficionado, Andrew views financial plans like a puzzle and enjoys putting all the pieces of the plan together to see how they fit. By providing advisors with financial planning support, he can free up an advisor’s time so they can focus on taking care of the clients and running the practice. He loves that he still gets to make a difference in a client’s life while taking a backseat role to the advisor. As a former advisor, Andrew knows what an advisor does from day-to-day and the problems they face. Along with that understanding he provides a second set of eyes and serves as a sounding board for an advisor to bounce ideas back and forth. One of Andrew’s favorite things to do is to work with the advisor to collaborate on case solutions and to work together to consider different strategies and find the best solutions for clients. Andrew also adds that, “we have a really great team here and a lot of great resources” to help advisors deliver the best financial plans and client experience possible.
When not at work, Andrew loves rooting for his favorite sports teams, the Red Wings and the Lions; although he admits it would be more fun if he rooted for teams that won more often. He also loves to read and watch science fiction and fantasy as well as listen to audiobooks. As mentioned earlier, he enjoys jigsaw puzzles and prefers designs that feature landscapes that remind him of the natural beauty surrounding his home state of Michigan. Like many of our team members, he loves the outdoors and tries to go hiking and fishing as well as hang out on the many beaches of Michigan. He usually has his Australian Shepherd Levi at his side standing guard and trying to tell him where to go. Andrew says he’s very sweet but too smart for his own good and always on the hunt for food.
