A self-described woman of service, Dawn Rem has been serving our clients with great care and attention since 2007. Like many of our team members, Dawn began her career with KMG in our Client Meeting Prep department. She soon realized that her skill set was best aligned in Practice Management and in developing people, so she transitioned to that department soon after.

Cultivating individual talent is one of Dawn’s primary passions. Says Dawn, “If people feel valued and enjoy what they’re doing then they are going to perform at their best every day.” She uses that philosophy to cultivate training programs and accountability tools for her clients that allow each staff member to thrive while driving metrics that matter most to the practice. Dawn also emphasizes that she is a “collaborator not dictator.” Meaning, she works closely with our clients to create solutions that work for them and their unique practices, instead of trying to force cookie cutter solutions onto the advisor and their staff. Having worked with numerous advisory practices over the past 15+ years, she also brings a fresh perspective and insight as to what other practices are doing.

For 10 years Dawn served as the Director of our Practice Management team and continues to serve as a member of our Executive Leadership team. During her tenure as Director of Practice Management, she developed many of the processes, structure, and tools that we use today. In 2016 she took on her first Executive Coaching client. It is very important for Dawn to always show up as her best self, but in 2020 she found herself spread thin between her work commitments and raising her two young children, ages 7 and 9. So in late 2020 Dawn stepped down as Director of Practice Management to focus on her coaching clients and to be available for her family.

This better work life balance has allowed Dawn to enjoy her favorite pastimes, namely exploring the great outdoors with her husband and two children. They have a goal of visiting every National Park, which they track on a wall-sized pushpin map. To date they have gone as far west as Volcano National Park in Hawaii and as far east as Dry Tortugas off the island of Key West. This past year they visited Mammoth Caves, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton and will be heading to Voyagers National Park in Minnesota next year. They prefer to truly “rough it” when they go camping, opting for no electricity, just access to natural water and utilizing solar and campfire where needed.

Despite her low-key approach to travel, Dawn has a love of red wine and admits to being a coffee snob, opting for locally roasted, small batch varieties whenever possible. Both pair well with her other favorite hobby, reading. She loves to lose herself in a romance novel, which she says is a nice escape at the end of a long workday.

If you haven’t connected with Dawn yet, reach out to her on Linkedin or you can email her directly at drem@keymanagementgrp.com.
